I'm off today so I ventured near the track to run errands. The key word there is "track" ... It's only practice and everything jammed up. Grrrr ....
Hilldawg was supposed
to win convincingly here.... eeecked by with a 1.8% victory. Essentially a tie since delegates are divided proportionately. I'm guessing she concedes next Wednesday if not sooner. As well, in the 2004 Hendricks Co. Primary, the Rep:Dem voting ratio was 80:20. This time it was 36:64. Quite a swing.
Oh yes, and we have NO Democratic office holders in this county.
- There were lines this morning at my place
- This is the first Presidential Primary in 40+ years that Indiana had a say in
- Various news reports: Republicans are "crossing over in droves" to vote on the Democratic ticket
- The voting machine that I used was incredibly easy
I am not waiting in that line.
Ok, the bankruptcy
was FINALLY filed last Wednesday. This was a process that survived an attorney firing, a divorce filing, a move, and 2
What does
a bankruptcy filing have to do with me getting a bicycle? Well I'll tell ya ... Well after paying the firm the rest of their fees I have a few extra dollars left over with wich I plan to buy a bike.
My apartment is about
a block away from an accesspoint for our town's Trails & Greenway System. That's cool all by itself but what's even more cool is that I discovered that the trail system is directly connected to Metropolis - and the aquatic/recreation center - and the parks - and the performing arts center - and our little downtown - and Dairy Queen - and the soccer fields - and the ball diamonds - and the STBXs apartment complex. How lucky is that?
The little bity issue
is that Metropolis doesn't have bike racks anywhere that I could tell. Now I know that I don't have to lock up a bike here but I'd be less inclined to get up from reading a book at B&N to check on my bike if it were locked up. Ah there are some light poles.
Because things have been
moving along so well lately I decided to go and get a speeding ticket. Yep. The nice nice officer from Plainfield was standing in the median with his nice nice shiny radar gun thingy pointed at me as I turned the corner of northbound Ronald Reagan Pkwy. The question running through my head when I saw him was "how is this guy going to stop me?" I didn't have to wait too long to get my answer. He walked out in my lane and stuck his hand out like Superman would do to stop a speeding train. I was going 60+ MPH.
There was a time
when I would have been grumbling under my breath for the next two days, swearing that I had been wronged, and most likely would have gotten into an argument with the nice nice officer. The nice nice officer gave me a ticket for violating a City ordinance rather than a state statute. He told me the difference was that the ordinance didn't require reporting on my license or to my insurance company.
I've had such a lead foot lately.
Tonight I'm going downtown to the Obama rally on the American Legion Mall. Should be interesting.
Any other Indy people going to the rally?
I sold the last of the
material possessions that I owned - My Plasma TV. And I shut off the cable. I officially have no TV for the first time in my life. Actually, this will help me meet 3 goals this summer:
- To enhance my relationship with Circle Face through more interactive projects and less Spiderman and Mickey Mouse watching
- To make a 30 pound dent in the next 100 pounds to lose on my diet by doing stuff rather than sitting in front of TV
- To start reading the books my ex bought me in the 90s that I always started but never finished
I'm considering shutting off the internet too - how crazy would that be? Not sure but who knows ...
Go Cubs!
I actually read nothing on either member other than what other people say. blogs, verbage, etc. I would like for... read more
on An Upset ... Hilldawg's days are numbered
